Rainbow Six: Remember Brazil’s international titles in 2021

The year 2021 was a memorable one for the Rainbow Six Brazilian. Over the past twelve months, teams from Brazil dominated the international Ubisoft FPS scene and made history in the competitive world. Before the start of the season, the region had only two international titles, but LATAM ended the calendar with three more trophies abroad.

In May, the Ninjas in Pajamas made history and conquered the invitational, most important tournament on the calendar. Months later, in August, the Team oNe billed the Six Major Mexico and in november to do closed the year with a flourish by taking home the Six Major Sweden.

Ninjas in Pajamas Wins R6’s Six Invitational

Brazilian fans followed the Six Invitational 2021 with high expectations and the national teams corresponded within the servers. In addition to the duo, MIBR, FURIA, FaZe and Team oNe were also in the competition.

In group A, the Brazilian teams had difficulties at the beginning of the tournament and took a long time to fit their style of play. Liquid and FaZe finished their first phase campaigns in third and fourth respectively, while Team oNe finished fifth and FURIA took seventh place. In group B, MIBR showed a great performance and came in second, with NiP in third.

During the playoffs, two Brazilian teams started with everything. MIBR and Ninjas in Pajamas defeated strong opponents like Liquid, BDS and FaZe to reach the final of the upper bracket, where the teams faced each other in a fiercely contested series, which ended with the ninjas victorious and classified for the big decision.

In the lower bracket, Team oNe and FURIA ended up falling early after suffering defeats to Empire and BDS respectively. Liquid and FaZe, who were placed in the losers bracket after losing in the upper bracket, were now also one loss away from elimination.

From that moment on, Liquid started to shine and won series after series, eliminating Parabellum, Empire, FaZe and TSM to reach the final of the lower bracket, where they would face MIBR. With this result, Brazil had already achieved the historic feat of having three teams occupying the podium of the competition, all that remains is to define the positions.

The cavalry beat MIBR 2-0 and moved forward to face NiP in the decision. The final was hotly contested and both teams could have won the trophy, but in the end Ninjas in Pyjamas were superior, winning 3-2, taking home a $1 million prize pool and becoming Rainbow Six world champion. first time.

Team oNe takes the Six Major Mexico from Rainbow Six

In August, months after winning the Invitational, Brazil once again won an international R6 tournament: The Six Major Mexico. This time, Ninjas in Pajamas, Team Liquid, Team oNe and FURIA were the Brazilian representatives in the competition.

Of the four Brazilian teams, three qualified for the tournament playoffs. Team oNe and Liquid presented an excellent Rainbow Six and took first of their respective groups, while FURIA finished their campaign in second and also advanced.

Despite reaching the title favorite after winning the Invitational, NiP failed in Mexico’s Major. The ninjas ended up finishing their campaign in the tournament as the last place in group D and said goodbye to the event..

In the playoffs, FURIA ended up being eliminated again by BDS, but Team oNe and Liquid won their respective matches, advancing to face each other in the semifinals. With the right to a 7-0 on the third map, T1 got the better of it and qualified for the Major’s decision, where it would face Russian Empire.

As with the Six Invitational, the Mexico Major’s final was very balanced, but in the end Team oNe won 3-2 and won the international tournament, Brazil’s second in 2021. The Brazilian team earned 200 thousand dollars with the title.

FaZe ends the year with the title of Six Major Sweden

The third and final international tournament of 2021 was the Six Major Sweden, which was held in November. Ninjas in Pajamas, FaZe, Team oNe and FURIA represented Brazil in the competition.

As with the last Major, three of the four Brazilian teams advanced to the tournament playoffs. FaZe, Team oNe and NiP secured first place from their respective groups, while FURIA ended up being eliminated after finishing last in group D.

During the playoffs, Team oNe ended up falling into the quarterfinals with a loss to Rogue, but FaZe and NiP won their respective series and progressed to the semifinals. There, they beat Rogue and DAMWON, qualifying for the decision.

The second Brazilian final in an international event in 2021 could not have been different from the others and was also marked by balance. As with the Six Invitational and the Six Major Mexico, the Six Major Sweden decision also featured the dispute of all five maps and in the end FaZe was superior, winning 3-2 and winning the title of the competition. The team took home $200,000 in prize money.
