VALORANT: Shion sees Liberty “prepared to face all VCT BR teams”

Back at VCT BR after managing to keep their spot through the relegation, Liberty doesn’t want to have the same negative experience as the first split. Despite having a good start to the last edition of the competition with a victory over VKS and a good match against LOUD, the team lost production and ended its campaign in the tournament with a record of 1-3.

Even though they were defeated in the last three series they played in the last VCT, Liberty’s matches were very close and could have been won if certain situations had happened a little differently. For Gabriel “shion”, his team had a lot of difficulties to close maps during the competition and that harmed the team.

“We couldn’t keep up the pace we put in the first two games of the VCT and we had a lot of difficulty finishing the games. In the match against LOUD where we did well, we suffered from that. The same thing happened in the series against Gamelanders, which we also lost by a minimal difference in rounds”, said the player in an interview with Mais Esports.

LIBERTY LINE-UP CHANGES

After the VCT ended, it became clear to Liberty players that changes needed to take place. Even before the start of the relegation, the team decided to remove Lucas “glym”, who had arrived at the beginning of the split, from the starting lineup.

“There were differences of opinion within the team that in the long run would be unsustainable for all the players on the team. Therefore, we opted for the exchange of one of the members of the quintet. Glym is a very good player individually and has a lot of potential to show yet”, said shion.

For glym’s place, Liberty chose to hire Rafael “raafa”, who recently retired from CS:GO and decided to migrate to VALORANT. According to shion, the team was looking for an experienced player to join the squad.

“We were looking for someone who had experience playing and who also added up outside the servers, and raafa adds exactly to these main points. He’s a really good guy to get along with and he understands the fundamentals of VALORANT well from his years of FPS in Counter-Strike,” he added.

THE RELEGATION AND EXPECTATIONS FOR THE NEXT VCT

Having finished their campaign in the last VCT in 7th/8th place, Liberty had to play the relegation to remain in the main VALORANT tournament in Brazil. There, the team showed that it deserved to continue with the spot by beating Tropinha do TikTok and Galaxy Carrots.

“We had the entire structure of the maps already defined for the competition. On the server, we focused on calm, communication and finishing the maps and managed to qualify for the second VCT of 2022 without too many problems”, said shion.

With a reformulated and more confident line-up, Liberty now returns to the VCT seeking not to make the same mistakes as the last edition. Keeping his feet on the ground, shion says that the team’s goal is to reach the playoffs first before thinking about the title or an eventual spot in the Masters.

“We restructured some thoughts and visions we had of some maps, we reviewed the answers for certain situations and the team is prepared to face all the VCT BR teams. Our initial goal is to qualify for the playoffs and later prepare even more to fight for the title”, he concluded.
