VALORANT: ableJ believes in an eventual FURIA title in the VCT “We can be champions of this split”

In August 2021, Rinaldo “ableJ” announced his retirement from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and migrated to VALORANT. Months later, in January 2022, the 23-year-old joined the FURIA roster in Riot Games’ FPS and has been competing for the organization ever since.

During that time, ableJ participated in a full edition of VCT BR 2022, where he helped FURIA win a spot in the playoffs and reach fourth place in the most important VALORANT competition in the country. Almost nine months after switching from CS:GO to Riot’s FPS, the player revealed that the process was complicated, but today he believes he made the right decision.

“In the beginning it was very difficult, there are many differences from how the game works to how the championships are, but I would say that having the first experience in the VCT, and the team being more adapted to each other, makes everything easier. I certainly made the right decision, I believe that regardless of whether I have the same success I had in CS or not, today VALORANT is my passion more intensely than CS for example, so I am very comfortable with my decision and with what we can do cool in VALORANT”, said the player in an interview with Mais Esports.

FIRST EXPERIENCE COMPETING IN VCT AND VALORANT

The first VCT BR of 2022 was the stage for a regular FURIA and in the process of adaptation. The arrival of ableJ meant that the team had to go through some role changes within the server, but the team managed to fit in during the tournament and reached the playoffs.

In the playoffs, the team beat TBK and Gamelanders, but fell to Vivo Keyd and was eliminated. For ableJ, the short time on the team hindered the team’s performance, but he classifies the results as fair and believes that the best teams won.

“I would rate it as a fair result, in all our matches we feel that the best team won and I believe that is what matters most. There were many external factors that harmed our team in the first split and we knew that we were the least prepared team in the VCT”, said the player.

“We treat the last VCT like any other tournament, we play to win, give our lives and deliver our 100% every game, but for sure the short team time causes several gaps on and off the server”, he added.

PRESENTIAL VCT

Unlike the last edition, the next VCT BR 2022 split will be played in person. Because of his CS:GO career, ableJ is certainly the player on his team with the most experience in tournaments played on LAN.

Despite this, the FURIA player doesn’t believe this is a big advantage. In ableJ’s opinion, teams that have already had their first experience working in person may even have a better start, but that won’t define the champion of the competition.

“I believe that the offline to online game doesn’t change that much, mainly because it’s a scenario where everyone already knows each other and is used to playing against in rankeds, scrims and championships. I believe that for teams that have already had the first experience of playing together on LAN and traveling together, there is a small advantage but nothing of great impact that could influence the final result of the championship”.

PREMIERE AGAINST LOUD E FURIA’S EXPECTATIONS FOR THE NEXT VCT

The next edition of VCT BR 2022 starts this Saturday (14) for FURIA. The team will make its debut in the championship against LOUD, current champion of the tournament and great favorite for the title. When asked about the duel, ableJ stated that his team studied some of the opponents’ games in the last Masters and said that the fans can expect a great game.

“We can expect a good and disputed game, I think LOUD has a solid team and we are heading towards that too. We watched some games together with them from the Masters and we get an idea of how they like to play in some maps and situations.”

More prepared and in tune, FURIA arrives at the second edition of 2022 of the VCT BR with a lot of desire to win. Focused on performing 100% in every match, ableJ and his team believe they can win the competition title and reach the next VALORANT Masters.

“Our preparation has been good, we solved many problems that we had not solved, and this long period of time without championships was certainly good for us to get a lot of things right on and off the server”.

“FURIA arrives in this VCT more solid, compact and united. We are working hard to fix our mistakes and have a good atmosphere in the team. Our preparation has been good and our focus is to play our 100% every game. We believe that with this we can be champions of this split”, he concluded.
