ESL Impact: FURIA takes runner-up

FURIA won CLG Red on Sunday night (5) and went to the final of the ESL Impact League Season 1: Finals. In the decision shortly after the semifinal, the Brazilian team faced Nigma Galaxy, lost by two to one and ended up with the runner-up of the competition.

Even before the decision was disputed, FURIA had already managed to make history. This is because this was the best campaign by a female team in the history of Brazilian CS:GO. Before the Furiosas, only LadyS, in CS 1.6, had won a second place in a world: ESCW 2006 and 2007.

In the game against Nigma Galaxy, FURIA won the first map in a tough game at Mirage 16-14. In the sequence, the series went to Vertigo and GaBi’s team suffered and ended up being defeated by 16-5. Thus, the champions were defined in Overpass. Nigma Galaxy went 16-7 and ended up winning the women’s CS:GO world title.

Previously, FURIA had beaten CLG Red, by the score of two to one. After a crushing defeat at Vertigo, the FURIA players didn’t give up and won the next two maps, Mirage and Dust 2 to reach the grand finale.

The ESL Impact League Season 1: Finals was held from June 3rd to 5th in Dallas, United States. In all, eight teams competed for a share of the $123,000 prize pool.
